First Six Months of Health Insurance
PROFS also led the successful campaign to have the state pick up the cost of the first six months of health insurance for new-hires. Previously, new-hires were forced to pay the entire cost of health insurance for the first six months of employment.
What New-Hires Would Be Paying:
$1,030 (monthly cost of employer share of Unity-UW Health family
plan, the lowest cost plan) x 6 months = $6,180
$413 (employer share of Unity single plan) x 6 months = $2,478
Other Issues
PROFS also lobbies for competitive compensation, state funding of the university, federal funding for research, preservation of the research environment on campus, and other issues as they arise.
PROFS Dues - A Real Bargain
